Histon Cricket Club U12s enjoyed their second win of the season against Bottisham and Lode at the Histon Rec on 20th May.
Having won the toss, Histon elected to bat and sent Jake Lawrence and Rahib Yousaf in to face the bowlers. Jake went on to secure another captain’s innings - an excellent unbeaten 61 off 64 balls - while Rahib - clearly in pain from an injured foot - got a very creditable 18, staying in for 17 overs.
With a total of 144 to chase in 20 overs , Bottisham got off to a slow start, losing two wickets in the third over for only 9 runs on the board (thanks to some great bowling by Jake) but thereafter gathered momentum as their star batsman Andy Baker began to knock the ball about.
At 12 overs Bottisham were 72 for 2 - a little off the pace, but with a win definitely a possibility, helped by some very wayward bowling by Histon (who gave away 70 runs in extras overall). However, it looked all up when Bottisham needed 22 off the last 2 overs, and so it proved, as the match ended with Bottisham a creditable 134 for 3.
With a 100% win record to date, the Histon U12s are looking forward to a good season.
