We are delighted to announce that our Recreation Ground will be hosting a game against the Ireland Ladies Cricket X1 this Saturday from  12.00

Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Cricket Boards have combined to form a Senior Ladies cricket team which hopes to enter the bottom rung of the national Women’s County Cricket League structure in 2010.

To date the Cambs & Hunts squad have had a few training sessions and 2 short friendly matches at the end of last season. When it became known that the full Ireland Women’s team were in the area and looking for a game because their opponents on Sat 23rd May (Leicestershire) had cancelled their match the Cambs & Hunts team were delighted to step in and offer to play a friendly – and Histon CC were kind enough to offer the use of their top class facilities.

The Cambs and Hunts team will be captained by Paula Knibbs of Cambridge NCI Womens CC, and the other local women’s cricket clubs represented in the side include Godmanchester CC, Peterborough Town CC and Ramsey CC. Spectators welcome!
Any ladies interested in playing cricket at social, club or county level please contact Richard Young, Cambs & Hunts CCC team manager on 07753 147953 (or email

It should be noted that the Cambs and Hunts area includes Charlotte Edwards, the successful England Ladies Cricket Captain, but she already plays for another senior County Team

On the other cricket pitch, Histon Cricket 3rd Xl will be playing Bar Hill CC 3rd Xl.  In both teams there will colts and adult playing as equals in a team: cricket is one of the few sports where this is possible and it is an opportunity for the colts to develop their cricket and social skills.

Why not come along and watch?

A big 'thank you' goes to Hollyoak Veterinary Surgery in Impington for their financial and technical support. Without it this website would not be possible.
