Holiday at Home

The Holiday at Home group have enjoyed a busy 2009 with home-based gatherings at the Baptist church halls and outings.

We are a group designed for Pensioners who live alone in Histon and Impington and the group has been growing in numbers since 2002.

We stated the year 2009 with a New Year lunch at the Baptist church serving 78 friends with a full Roast Beef meal.  In March Reg Wenn came to entertain us with his poetry and humour.  April found us together for two days at the Baptist church with talks; an opportunity to purchase clothing from the Pauline May Collection;  laughter and fun with “The Entertainers”; coffee, lunch and tea.

During the summer we enjoyed coach outings to the Bufferfly and Wildlife Park at Long Sutton, two visits to our friends at the Newmarket Day Centre for lunch, a trip to Cromer for the Pier Show, and a tour on the Cambridgeshire Sightseeing Bus with strawberry tea.  October brought another two-day gathering with some chair-based exercises; an opportunity to create our own floral table decoration; speakers; more entertainment; coffee, lunch and tea with plenty of time to enjoy the company of friends.

We are grateful to the Leadership Team at Histon Baptist Church who make their halls available to us and to the volunteer drivers who kindly bring some of our members in and take them home, but as you can imagine there is a lot of work involved with this venture and I would be very grateful to anyone who could offer some support and help in any area of your interest and gifts.

A big 'thank you' goes to Hollyoak Veterinary Surgery in Impington for their financial and technical support. Without it this website would not be possible.
